Fairfax County police are asking for the public’s help in identifying burglars in two different types of burglaries — ones occurring in homes and ones happening at two laundry facilities in the same shopping center.
The police released photos from home security footage of a woman they are trying to identify in connection with five burglaries in McLean, Reston, Oakton, and Great Falls that occurred between December 28, 2023, and January 9.
The woman in the photos carries flowers to doors of the homes and knocks on the doors. When no one answers, she returns to a vehicle, and two men break into the homes and steal jewelry, cash, and purses. In some cases, the burglars try to tamper with the surveillance cameras.
Anyone with information about these burglaries or the people involved is asked to call the detectives at 703-556-7750.
Laundromat Burglaries Need Ironing Out
In a separate investigation, Fairfax County police believe three commercial laundry-related burglaries are connected. Two occurred on December 30, 2023, and the third on January 8.
The first two in the Woodlawn Shopping Center involved a location that is being converted into a dry-cleaning business and the Stars Laundromat. Nothing was taken at the business under construction. Cash was taken from Stars where a window was smashed.
On January 8, police responded again to Stars Laundromat 8792 Sacramento Dr. in the Woodlawn Shopping Center. There, the burglar again broke a window to get in and took cash.
The police think the same burglary suspect is involved. If you recognize him from the photo, call the Mount Vernon District Station at 703-360-8400.
