Bid a Happy Retirement to K-9 Browser of FCPD’s Electronic Detection Program

The helpful pup will officially retire after a long career with over 150 deployments.

By Maggie Roth December 21, 2023 at 3:16 pm

The Fairfax County Police Department is saying farewell to K-9 Browser, who assisted in the Electronic Detection Program, as he enters “a well-deserved retirement after an exemplary career.”

K-9 Browser worked tirelessly to help police locate electronics such as computers or micro-SD cards, jumping in to help detectives during searches.

“His ability to adapt and excel has significantly elevated FCPD’s operational efficiency overall,” FCPD said in a news release.

The black Lab participated in 153 deployments over its career, including “contributing significantly to 24 successful operations where devices crucial to investigations were located and seized.” Browser helped police with 151 search warrants.

This level of talent didn’t happen overnight. Browser’s training began in 2019, and he trained for over 1,200 hours with his handler, Detective Ray McCoy

As Browser steps down, a new K-9 will step up to take his place: Delaware, another black Lab, whom FCPD says “promises to uphold and build upon the legacy left by Browser” and “brings a fresh perspective and energy to FCPD.”

You’ve got big shoes to fill, Delaware.
