Soccer team D.C. United on Tuesday announced that the club signed a deal to name its training facility in Leesburg after Inova.
The facility, now to be called the Inova Performance Complex, covers 30 acres and includes four practice fields and the training center that houses the MLS team’s performance and medical staff, D.C. United said in a statement.
“We are excited to further strengthen our relationship with Inova and have them become the naming rights holder for our training facility in Loudoun County,” Danita Johnson, the team’s president of business operations, said in the statement. “As our official sports medicine partner, our relationship with Inova will continue to help the team perform both on and off the field.”
Inova became D.C. United’s sports medicine partner in March. Dr. Peter MacArthur, the team’s head physician, said in the statement that the job was “an honor” and that “I’ve been in sports medicine for over a decade with Inova and worked with teams across the professional landscape, but the Black-and-Red are my hometown soccer team.
“This facility will be an extension of Inova, where we treat every patient the same way we treat our world-class professional athletes.”
The facility opened in 2021. D.C. United plays at Audi Field, in the Buzzard Point area of Southwest Washington, DC.
