CDC confirms 60 cases of Zika virus in Virginia; Silver Spring apartment explosion kills two

Northern Virginia’s daily dose of local and national news for Friday, Aug. 12.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported there have been 60 confirmed cases of the Zika virus in Virginia and a combined 100 cases across D.C., Maryland and Virginia. All of the cases have been attributed to travel to affected areas.
