Fairfax County Police Department’s Road Shark traffic safety campaign continues to make waves. The latest phase of the initiative concluded on August 16 and it resulted in FCPD’s largest enforcement effort of 2026.
Between August 10 and August 16, officers issued a total of 16,235 citations and warnings (6,162 citations and 10,073 warnings). FCPD says the results highlight the continued importance of traffic safety and driver accountability across Fairfax County.
Conducted in partnership with Virginia State Police, the Road Shark campaign targets speeding, reckless driving, distracted driving, and other unsafe behaviors. With increased patrols and visibility, FCPD says officers are working to change driver behavior, improve public safety, and protect lives.
Wave four of Road Shark is scheduled to kick off October 12.
