Calling all Chantilly Youth Association (CYA) and the Southwestern Youth Association (SYA) alumni: Ellanor C. Lawrence Park Friends (ECLP) is hosting a charity softball game on Saturday, July 25, from noon to 3 p.m.
The “Summer Slugfest” will be a six-inning game held at the softball fields at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park, located at 5000 Stonecroft Blvd. in Chantilly. It will feature CYA and SYA alumni players (ages 21 and over) competing for the 2026 Slugfest Cup.
The free event will also include food trucks selling gourmet hot dogs and other treats, giveaways, merchandise, and a 50/50 raffle. CYA’s The Sideline podcast will provide a live, on-field broadcast.

The game will begin with a ceremonial first pitch from Jai Cole, executive director of the Fairfax County Park Authority. Sully District Supervisor Kathy Smith will also be in attendance.
Summer Slugfest player registration is free and includes a jersey. Proceeds from donations, raffles, and merchandise sales at the event will support scholarships, summer camps, field trips, and educational programming through ECLP. The local nonprofit helps underserved children access outdoor recreation and learning opportunities.
“With the Summer Slugfest, we hope to get more young adults out enjoying ECLP,” organizer Zach Velis said in a release. “Funds raised will provide more scholarships for park programs. We grew up attending ECLP camps and playing youth sports — we want every child to enjoy the same opportunities.”
