Sen. Mark Warner and his wife, Lisa Collis, announced Monday on Facebook that their daughter Madison, 36, has died after a long battle with diabetes and other health issues.
“We are heartbroken beyond words by the passing of our beloved daughter, Madison, 36, after a decades-long battle with juvenile diabetes and other health issues. She filled out lives with love and laughter, and her absence leaves an immeasurable void,” Warner’s statement said.
The statement continued, “We are grateful for the loving support of friends and family during this difficult time and ask for privacy as we navigate this profound loss.”
Warner and his family live in Alexandria. He and his wife also have two younger daughters, Gillian and Eliza. Warner, a Democrat, has served in the Senate since January 2009. He previously served as governor of Virginia.
