Spotsylvania’s massive new water park resort is on track to open this year. Kalahari Resorts and Conventions has announced that booking is now open for the Virginia resort for stays beginning December 18.

“Opening bookings is a major milestone for Kalahari Spotsylvania and a meaningful moment for our family and our entire team,” said Todd Nelson, CEO and founder of Kalahari Resorts & Conventions. “We’re excited to welcome families to Spotsylvania beginning in late 2026 and to bring the full Kalahari experience to Virginia.”

The $900 million, 1.38 million-square-foot project has been under construction in Spotsylvania (just off I-95) since 2023. Once completed, it promises more than 900 guest rooms, a 175,000-square-foot indoor water park, and a 10-acre outdoor water park. The space will also include and a convention center and plus food and drink concepts. This is the first Kalahari Resort in Virginia.

Ride-Naming Contest

The park will have more than 50 water slides for a variety of age ranges and thrill levels. And Kalahari is launching a contest for fans to help name one of its signature slides.

Guests can submit name ideas for the slide online. It’s “a record-breaking ride described as the longest master blaster water coaster in North America, with launch speeds up to 20 feet per second, up to 60 seconds of ride time, and more than 10 powerful blasts featuring drops and gravity-defying lifts,” according to a news release.

Three winners will be chosen. The grand prize winner will get an overnight stay at a Kalahari resort, plus a $100 food and beverage credit and a $100 arcade credit. Two runners-up will receive four waterpark day passes and a $50 food and beverage credit.
