‘No Kings’ Protests Planned for This Weekend in Northern Virginia

Gatherings are planned in Arlington, Alexandria, Leesburg, Reston, Manassas, and more.

The “No Kings” organization is planning nationwide protests on Saturday, October 18. There are dozens of gathering locations planned throughout DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia.

The first nationwide round of No Kings demonstrations was held on June 14. The protests were planned to coincide with President Donald Trump hosting the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday parade in DC.

According to the group’s website, “In June, we did what many claimed was impossible: peacefully mobilized millions of people to take to the streets and declare with one voice: America has No Kings. And it mattered. The world saw the power of the people.”

No Kings organizers say this weekend’s events are protesting Trump “pouring public money into his authoritarian takeovers of cities — deploying federal forces, seizing local police departments, and funding mass detention and deportation operations — while cutting services that working families rely on every single day.”

The No Kings website lists 30 protests planned in DC and more than 40 throughout Maryland. Northern Virginia locations include nine in Arlington and two in both Alexandria and Falls Church. Single gathering spots are listed in Leesburg, Warrenton, McLean, Annandale, Springfield, Vienna, Fort Hunt, Fairfax, Reston, Fair Lakes, Herndon, Woodbridge, and Manassas.
