Middleburg Film Festival Announces 2025 Lineup

Tickets are on sale now to see films like “Hamnet” and “Jay Kelly.”

Now in its 13th year, the Middleburg Film Festival will highlight some of the year’s most noteworthy movies and prominent filmmakers. This year’s festival will run from October 16 to 19, and individual tickets are now on sale.

Founded by BET co-founder and Salamander Hotels and Resorts CEO Sheila Johnson, a longtime Middleburg resident, the multi-day event displays a curated selection of new films including Oscar contenders and independent productions.

This year, the festival opens with Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly, a film about an aging movie star played by George Clooney.

Also on the slate is the “centerpiece” film, Hamnet, a historical drama following the relationship between William Shakespeare and his wife, Agnes, leading up to the creation of Hamlet.

Other screenings include:

  • Ballad of a Small Player
  • Billy Idol Should Be Dead
  • Bugonia
  • Christy
  • Diane Warren: Relentless
  • Eternity
  • Good Fortune
  • Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein
  • If I Had Legs I’d Kick You
  • Rental Family
  • Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere

Beyond the screenings, several expert panels will discuss the movies and the state of the film industry. These will include a discussion on how AI will impact the industry, a panel of composers and songwriters, a conversation about which films are Oscar contenders, and a panel of DC film critics.

Screenings take place at the Salamander Resort, the Hill School, the Middleburg Community Center, and the National Sporting Library.

The full lineup of events is available on the Middleburg Film Festival’s website. Tickets for individual events start at around $20 per screening.
