From dawn to dusk, the event will include sporty activities and community picnics.

By Jamie Gholson June 18, 2025 at 1:19 pm

Celebrate the longest day of the year at Play All Day VA throughout NoVA. From sunrise to sunset on June 20, Virginia will be buzzing with free, family-friendly Play All Day activities that encourage people to play, connect, and thrive across the region’s parks and public spaces.

The statewide initiative aims for people to get active and get involved in community programs.

Fairfax County

Fairfax County will be hosting its Play All Day on Thursday featuring sporty activities, park visits, and puzzle hunts. It will provide free access to pools, parks, trails, nature centers, historic sites, basketball courts, and playgrounds. The puzzle hunt includes clues that will lead to a different park in Fairfax County. It runs from June 15 to September 1.

Loudoun County

Loudoun County will be celebrating Play All Day on Friday with multiple free activities and programs at parks and centers across Loudoun. The County is inviting residents to all the aquatic, recreation, and community centers from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Prince William County

Prince William County plans to celebrate Play All Day by offering free recreational activities. These activities include family Bingocize, Junior Lifeguard Day, a stroller walk, a story time and STEM activity, and a “kid fit party.”

Arlington

In Arlington, this 18-hour event will include a variety of sporty activities. It starts at 5:30 a.m. at Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center with adult water walking and lap swimming. Throughout the day, there will be numerous activities including indoor pickleball, table tennis, forest bathing, Bollywood dance, a Pride dance party, and afternoon games.

Not the sporty type? Go chill at the Play All Day Community Picnic from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lubber Run Community Center. The picnic will include a DJ, dancing, and lawn games from 5 to 8 p.m., a Latin dance class at 5:30 p.m., and the Arlington Jazz Ensemble at 6 and 7 p.m. Bring your chair or blanket with some food and connect while soaking up the summer sunset.

Registration is recommended for most Play All Day activities. Some specific events may have age restrictions, so check ahead before attending.
