A local program wants you to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day — and arrive home safely.
The Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP) is offering free Lyfts this Saturday, March 15, through Monday, March 17. WRAP’s 2025 St. Patrick’s Day SoberRide program hopes to prevent drunk driving throughout the area.
“Nearly half of U.S. traffic fatalities during St. Patrick’s Day involve drunk drivers, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration,” Kurt Erickson, WRAP’s president, said in a statement.
Lyft App and Code
Free Lyft rides will be available between 4 p.m. and 4 a.m. Saturday through Monday. Residents ages 21 and over can download the Lyft app and visit SoberRide.com for the code. Then enter the code in the “Payment” tab under the “Add Lyft Pass” option.
The code will be released at 3 p.m. on Saturday. It is valid for up to $15 off one Lyft in the DC coverage areas.
Free Lyfts Program
During last year’s St. Patrick’s Day weekend, more than 500 residents used the SoberRide Lyft program. Program sponsors include Enterprise, Corona, Budweiser, Giant, and Glory Days Grill. To date, WRAP’s programs have provided more than 93,000 safe rides for individuals in the Northern Virginia and DC region.
