A Fairfax Connector bus crashed into a parking garage and burst into flames Tuesday night, near the Fairfax County Government Center. One person had non-life-threatening injuries, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.
FCRD responded to reports of a bus that had crashed near the 12000 block of Government Center Parkway around 6:30 p.m. Officials found an electric bus had struck a parking garage and caught fire.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the bus and eventually extinguish the flames. By 9:42 p.m., the fire was under control. Building inspectors arrived to evaluate the damage to the parking garage.
The bus driver was brought to the hospital with minor injuries, and there were no passengers on board at the time of the crash, ABC7 News reported.
The fire was especially difficult to put out, officials told ABC7, because the bus was electric. FCRD had to continue putting water on the bus even after the flames were out to keep the battery from overheating and reigniting.
