While the holiday season usually brings joy across the region, patrons of these recently closed restaurants may not be so happy. Here are 13 restaurants in Northern Virginia that have closed their doors in the final months of the year.

Black Walnut Brewery

Patrons of the indoor/outdoor facility have enjoyed their last drink at Black Walnut Brewery. The property will be joining the plans for the new Hotel Burg coming to Leesburg in 2025, according to The Burn. 212 S. King St., Leesburg

Bobby’s Bagel Cafe

The viral bagel shop announced it was closing its Reston location in August. After a viral video showcasing the cafe’s pumpkin-shaped bagels, Bobby’s Bagels was able to keep its Reston location open into November before closing for good. Fans can still visit the cafe’s locations in Herndon and Oakton. 1484 North Point Village Center, Reston

California Tortilla

Arlington residents will have to drive a little further to get their California Tortilla fix. After 20 years in business, the local fast-casual chain has closed its Courthouse location. A new restaurant is set to take over the location, according to ARLnow. Patrons can still visit locations in Ashburn, Reston, and Tysons. 2057 Wilson Blvd., Arlington

Firehook Bakery

Since 1992, this bakery has become a favorite among pastry lovers, but after three decades Firehook is shutting down its retail locations. The bakery will be closing all three locations, which includes locations in Alexandria and Chantilly, on Christmas Eve. The decision was made in order to support the growth and expansion of the Firehook Cracker business, which shoppers will still be able to find online. 430 S. Washington St., Alexandria; 14701 Flint Lee Rd., Chantilly

Good Fortune Chinese Restaurant

Located in Broadlands, Good Fortune became a go-to spot for sushi, vegan options, and delicious specials. At the end of November, the restaurant announced it was closing. “This decision was not made lightly, and we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your loyalty and support over [the] last 16 years,” Good Fortune shared on Facebook. 42864 Truro Parish Dr., Ashburn

Hometown Grill and Bar

A “closed” sign now welcomes diners that try to visit this Lorton favorite. The bar didn’t provide a reason for closing, leaving the community after three years of service. 9000 Lorton Station Blvd., Ste. N, Lorton

Hunan Village

A staple in the Arlington community, Hunan Village suddenly shuttered in mid-November after nearly four decades in business. The restaurant’s owner was involved in a car accident that caused him to be unable to work. 4775 Langston Blvd., Arlington

The Meadows Original Frozen Custard

The One Loudoun ice cream shop announced back in September that its Ashburn location would be closing. December 7 was its final day scooping cones. But don’t say goodbye forever — the ice cream shop will be moving to Reston this spring. 20548 Easthampton Plz., Ashburn

The Mixx Delight

After just over a year in business, the food truck turned brick-and-mortar shop had to close its doors in November due to “unforeseen circumstances.” While the storefront is closed, the business will still be providing catering services and plans on looking for a new location. 448 Maple Ave. E, Vienna

Out of the Blue Crabs & Seafood

Western Prince William County residents will need to find a new haven for seafood favorites. The 300-seat Gainesville restaurant announced it was closing on October 23 after seven years. 5005 Wellington Rd., Gainesville

Peet’s Coffee

The Clarendon location closed on November 24, the Sunday before Thanksgiving. The company told ARLnow that its lease was coming to an end, which prompted the closure. 3003 Washington Blvd., Ste. A, Arlington

Sari Filipino Kusina

The Filipino restaurant served its last meal at the end of November. The owner stated that he had to close its Annandale location because it was too difficult to manage his six restaurants throughout the DMV, according to Annandale Today. The eatery originally opened in December 2022. 6920 Braddock Rd., Annandale

Wicket Door Pub

On December 4, this Ashburn pub said goodbye to its regulars one last time. The pub abruptly announced it was closing after five years in Ashburn. 44921 George Washington Blvd., Ste. 100, Ashburn
