Cybertruck, Lamborghini Drivers in Route 7 Street Race Arrested

Officials are still looking for the “flagger” who was involved in the race.

By Maggie Roth November 4, 2024 at 9:55 am

Fairfax County Police identified and arrested the drivers of the Tesla Cybertruck and Lamborghini that sped down Route 7 in an illegal street race.

A video posted to social media captured the race, which police say happened on October 13 near Leesburg Pike and Westwood Center Drive in Tysons. It even gained attention from Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who retweeted the video.

After being alerted to the video on October 29, detectives in Fairfax County identified the drivers as Christian Camacho, 48, of Vienna, in the Cybertruck and Carlos Montero, 37, of Sterling, in the Lamborghini.

Camacho turned himself in on November 1. Police charged him with racing and stopping on the highway. They arrested Montero the same day and charged him with racing, stopping on the highway, and two counts of improper lane change. Both were released on an unsecured bond.

“Fast cars + poor judgment = fines and charges,” FCPD said in a post on X, showing video of the two suspects’ arrests.

Police are still searching for the “flagger,” who signaled the start of the street race. Police are asking anyone with information to call the crash reconstruction unit at 703-280-0543, or submit a tip to Crime Solvers.
