By Colleen Kelleher October 14, 2024 at 10:17 am

Prince William County detectives are actively investigating a double murder in the Manassas area and a person of interest is detained in New Jersey.

The shootings of the man and woman occurred in the basement of a home in the 8900 block of Hanson Grove Court, a street of single-family homes.

Police found the two at the home at 2:39 a.m. on Sunday. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not yet been released, pending notification of family members.

The person of interest detained in Brunswick, New Jersey, is known to the victims. Police said they do not believe the shootings were random. No one has been charged.

Detectives are trying to figure out what happened before the double murder and are asking for the public’s help. Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 703-792-6500 or submit a tip online at pwcva.gov/policetip.
