Dulles Town Center Owner Proposes 1,000 New Homes Around Mall

The proposal calls for flats and homes to be along the mall’s ring road.

By Colleen Kelleher June 6, 2024 at 9:57 am

The owner of Dulles Town Center wants to revitalize the area by adding 1,000 new homes around the mall.

Srini Chavali applied for a rezoning permit to allow for 600 stacked flats and 400 single-family homes along 98 acres around the mall’s ring road, according to the Washington Business Journal.

The filings say the mall’s parking lots are “subject to future development,” but don’t specify what that would be.

Chavali, who bought the mall for $46 million at the end of 2023, told the Washington Business Journal that adding new housing there would help to bring activity and “vibrancy back” to the Loudoun County mall. The development would also generate funds for capital improvements.
