Where to Celebrate National Beer Lovers Day

National Beer Lovers Day is this week. Here are seven breweries to try.

By Bennett Freeze September 5, 2023 at 12:47 pm

Few of life’s simple pleasures match the first sip of beer from a frosted glass. Effervescent and refreshing, this humble beverage can transform any old day into an unforgettable experience with friends or family.

Here in NoVA, we’re spoiled for choice on where to enjoy our favorite craft beer. And with National Beer Lovers Day on September 7, take this as your cue to explore the breweries in the area.

As always, please drink responsibly, and don’t forget the designated driver.

Aslin Beer Co.

Cofounders Andrew Kelley and Kai Leszkowicz at Aslin Beer Co. have been churning out exceptional beers since opening in 2015. With three locations in the area, and a new 6 percent ABV Pumpkin Spice Milk Stout on tap, what’s not to love? Aslin’s Alexandria taproom will be open until 10 p.m. for the holiday. 847 S. Pickett St., Alexandria

Harpers Ferry Brewing

Located on the Virginia banks of the Potomac River, Harpers Ferry Brewing is the perfect place to get a brew with a view. Bring a group of friends for trivia starting at 6 p.m. every Thursday. 37412 Adventure Center Ln., Purcellville

Chubby Squirrel Brewing Company

This family-friendly, dogs-encouraged nano-brewery features an ever-changing array of beers on tap in a relaxed atmosphere. Check out its classic arcade and seasonal canned options. 10382 Willard Wy., Fairfax

Eavesdrop Brewery

The taproom at Eavesdrop Brewery is situated in a former racing pigeon loft, and full to the brim with tons of in-house and guest beers. Take advantage of the ample outdoor seating and firepits for those chilly nights. 7223 Centreville Rd., Ste. 115, Yorkshire

G34.3 Brewing Company

Tiny yet mighty, this brewery gets its named from G34.3, the largest deep space cloud of ethanol in the known universe. Fittingly, the Lorton taproom is space themed. 8532 Terminal Rd., Lorton

Old Bust Head Brewing Company

Chic and solar-powered, this Fauquier County microbrewery is worth the drive. Its Vixen Irish Red Ale won the 2023 Virginia Craft Beer Cup’s silver medal, but if reds aren’t your style, don’t worry. With 48 taps, Old Bust Head has a brew for every palate and preference. 7134 Farm Station Rd., Vint Hill

Old Trade Brewery

Watch the sunset over the Blue Ridge Mountains at this picturesque, family-owned brewery. Instagram-worthy settings not enough for you? Old Trade has no shortage of outdoor games, including shuffleboard, darts, and even an ax-throwing station, though you will need reservations for the latter. 13270 Alanthus Rd., Brandy Station
