New Occoquan Greenway Bridge to Make Hiking, Biking Easier

The bridge replaces three splash-through creek crossings on the trail system.

By Colleen Kelleher June 13, 2023 at 8:31 am

Hiking and biking along the Occoquan Greenway is getting a little easier, now that a new bridge has been installed.

The Occoquan Greenway Hedges Run Segment 3 Bridge that opens in mid-to-late-June replaces three splash-through creek crossings with an elevated bridge for pedestrians and bicyclists. It’s located between Hedges Run Drive and Mohican Road and part of the trail system that connects the Prince William County Government complex with the Town of Occoquan.

See a time-lapsed video of the bridge’s installation.

The Occoquan Greenway has seven trail segments with varying terrain:

  • Springwoods Drive to Lake Ridge Park
  • Lake Ridge Park to Hedges Run Drive
  • Hedges Run Drive to Mohican Road
  • Mohican Road to Cotton Mill Road
  • Cotton Mill Road to Woodfern Drive
  • Woodfern Drive to Captains Court
  • Captains Court to Town of Occoquan

The county recommends parking at the Lake Ridge Marina for the best hiking and biking experience. At the marina, you also can rent kayaks, canoes, pedal boats, paddleboards, and rowboats.
