Bluebells Reach Peak at Bull Run Regional Park

The beautiful flowers are only in bloom for a short period of time.

Bluebell lovers: Don’t wait too much longer. The flowers have reached their peak at Bull Run Regional Park in Centreville, according to NOVA Parks.

Peak bloom, which started April 5, lasts seven to 10 days.

The park at 7700 Bull Run Dr. is said to have the largest collection of bluebells on the East Coast, at more than 150 acres.

Other names for the flower include the Virginia cowslip, Roanoke bells, lungwart, and oysterleaf.

The best place to check them out is the Bluebell Trail, a 1.5-mile trail that is off the Bull Run Occoquan Trail near Atlantis Waterpark. You will love the walk with the forest carpeted with the lush flowers.

Another location where you can see a carpet of bluebells is at the Bluebell Festival at Merrimac Farm in Nokesville. The flowers cover the Cedar Run shoreline for nearly a mile. The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 8.
