Fairfax County Principal Charged with DUI, Hit-and-Run

The Navy Elementary School principal allegedly crashed into an Aldie home before fleeing the scene.

By Jon Simkins September 16, 2022 at 12:22 pm

A principal of a Fairfax County Public Schools elementary school has been charged with a DUI hit-and-run for a September 9 incident in which he allegedly crashed his vehicle into a residence before fleeing the scene.

Jonathan Coch, 44, was identified by individuals who reportedly witnessed the Navy Elementary School principal crash into an Aldie home just after 2 p.m. in the vicinity of Seven Hills Drive and Winning Glory Drive, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. No injuries were reported.

Coch, who reportedly lives just blocks from where the incident occurred, was taken into custody by deputies shortly thereafter and charged with driving while intoxicated and hit-and-run.

He is currently being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center and is expected to appear in court on October 12, NBC Washington reported.

“Our team is working vigorously to investigate the specifics of that accident and intend to aggressively defend Mr. Coch against these charges,” the principal’s attorney’s told NBC. “We cannot comment further because the investigation is ongoing, but we ask the community to reserve judgement until all the facts are learned and to please respect the privacy of those involved.”

Coch is currently on administrative leave from FCPS.
