Alexandria Man Charged with Second-Degree Murder of Brother

The motive has not yet been determined.

By Cyna Mirzai June 8, 2022 at 4:42 pm

The Alexandria Police Department is arresting an Alexandria man for a fatal shooting incident on June 6.

Jonathan Cruz Villafuerte, 24, suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body. The ADP stated the initial call for service was received at around 1:56 a.m. for a shots fired incident at the Brookdale Apartments in the 1400 block of North Beauregard St.

The suspect was his brother, Enoc Cruz Villafuerte, 22, who was charged with second-degree murder and use of firearm in commission of a felony. Officers and medics attempted to deliver aid, but the attempts were unsuccessful.

The police department is still examining the incident, with the motive for the shooting still under investigation. This is the fourth homicide in Alexandria this year, with the first homicide reported in March.
