Each month, we are featuring a dog and cat who are currently available for adoption at a local animal shelter. For May, we’re happy to introduce you to Charley the dog and Bailey the cat.
Dog of the Month: Meet Charley
Charley is available and waiting for a special someone to bond with him and understand his goofy, fun self. The two-and-a-half-year-old black lab mix weighs around 40 lbs. and his favorite hobbies include flinging toys in the yard with humans, playing tug-of-war with his rope toys (and leash too!), and running around with toys in his mouth.
Charley would be a great addition as a family dog, as he loves adventures and being around people. He would be okay with children; however, he will need some training due to mouthy puppy tendencies. Charley has been patiently awaiting his forever home since November 2021.
Charley is currently available at Homeward Trails Animal Rescue in Fairfax Station. Those interested in adopting him can visit www.homewardtrails.org or calling 703-249-5066.
Cat of the Month: Meet Bailey
Bailey is an eight-year-old female brown and black short-haired cat and very friendly—so friendly in fact, that she is known as the greeter of the cat adoptions room, walking right up to meet people, winding around their legs for attention!
As a mature adult cat, Bailey doesn’t like toys, except pipe cleaners. Wind a pipe cleaner into an intriguing shape and she’ll play with it for hours. Her favorite way to recharge is to watch the world go by from her window enclosure.
Bailey has a very extroverted personality but is part-introvert at heart. She’ll let you know when she needs to take time to “recharge.” Bailey would prefer not to live with dogs.
To learn more about Bailey or schedule a time to meet her, contact the team at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria by emailing adopt@alexandriaanimals.org or calling 703-746-4774.
