Police to Investigate Alleged Murder-Suicide in Fairfax County

Officers found the bodies of a married couple while completing a welfare check.

By Laura Scudder May 18, 2022 at 4:44 pm

Detectives from the Fairfax County Police Department’s Major Crimes Bureau are investigating what they believe is a domestic-related murder-suicide in Fairfax.

On the afternoon of May 14, officers found the bodies of married couple Madeline Bregman, 76, and Michael Bregman, 77, in their home in the 10400 block of Stallworth Ct. following a welfare check.

FCPD detectives preliminarily believe that Michael shot Madeline and then himself. Police located a firearm and several shell casings in the home, and say that the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will be completing autopsies to confirm the couple’s manner and cause of death.

This is the seventh homicide of this year in Fairfax County. Last year, there were also seven homicides at this point in 2021.
