Updated October 31, 2022. When luxury and nature meet, glamping is the result. Throughout NoVA and around the commonwealth, there are some amazing options for glamping, where you can rent a tiny house or a luxury dome and get in tune with nature without messing up your mani-pedi.
Tiny House Rentals
The tiny movement is sweeping the nation, but finding a place to permanently park your smaller-than-average domicile has shown to be a challenge in this neck of the woods. If you’re committed to living the movement, perhaps a temporarily downsized experience in the Shenandoah Valley will scratch your tiny itch.
Rental tiny homes near the Shenandoah National Park come equipped with Wi-Fi and sleep up to three guests, and include heat, air conditioning and a shared bathroom. Outside, a picnic table, chairs, and a grill await.
Luxury Cabins
This site in Syria offers two luxury cabins on a private 20-acre parcel of land. With views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, these cabins are perfect for the fly-fishing enthusiast.
Leather club furniture and 17-foot-tall domed ceilings along with a full kitchen and a gaming table leave plenty of space and lots to do for those who might not be anglers. If the weather’s not good for fishing, you can tie flies to your heart’s content.
Yurts
If a yurt is what you’re looking for, take a trip to Williamsburg, where you’ll find a yurt big enough for four adults and two children. It includes a queen-sized bed, linens, and a futon if you bring guests.
While there’s no bathroom or kitchen, they’re within walking distance. The yurt does have heating and air conditioning, however, along with a refrigerator and microwave.
Grand-Looking Villas
If you want to hang out with deer and bears in some private woodlands, then a villa should suit your glamp direction. A “southern-style” villa nestled in 27 acres of private woodlands should meet your needs.
This place is furnished with rustic-looking carved wood furniture, deer heads, and lots of interior stone. There’s a full kitchen and room for eight guests who can take advantage of a sauna and steam room before they cook some organic smores over the fire in the fireplace.
Luxury Domes
In Southern Virginia Beach, this luxury dome, steps from Sandbridge Beach, sleeps ten people comfortably in king, queen, and twin beds.
The geodesic dome has three floors connected by a spiral staircase with third-floor interior balconies. The second floor living room has a living room and a kitchen. The ground level has a bathroom, an outdoor shower, and enough space for kids to hang out.
Restored Farmhouses
In Luray, this restored 1850s farmhouse sleeps six people in two bedrooms. There’s also a separate cabin that sleeps an additional two guests.
Upstairs, find a full bathroom with a soaking tub, as well as a half-bath with a washer and dryer. The outdoor barbecue doubles as a grill or fireplace, and there’s space to watch Netflix on the Apple TVs. The host provides towels, soap, and shampoo.
