Virginia will host its first “Healing Day,” on Sunday, Aug. 25, with ceremonies throughout the weekend that will mark the 400th anniversary of when enslaved Africans arrived in the mid-Atlantic colony in August 1619. The U.S. Park Police Chief is stepping down as of Wednesday, Aug. 21. Robert D. MacLean has been with the United States Park Police Department for 28 years and became the acting chief of the department on Dec. 6, 2013. No specific reason has been cited or confirmed as of Thursday, Aug. 22. (WTOP)
