Metro speaks out about Silver Line opening date; Virginia licenses reinstated

Metro General Manager Paul Widefeld is hesitant to set an ideal date for the opening of the Silver Line to Dulles International Airport and Loudoun County. Although, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority projects the line could be open around July 16, 2020. “They don’t set the date, Metro sets the date,” said Widefeld. (WTOP)

A new law has offered driving access back to an estimated 238,847 Virginia residents after reinstating their driver’s licenses, which had been suspended due to outstanding court fees, unpaid fines and costs. Of those, 34,545 have officially reinstated their licenses through the DMV since July 1. (Inside NoVA)

Arlington placed 36 out of the top 40 places young professionals are moving to in recent years. Cities and counties across the country were ranked by their population rates of 18 to 34 year olds who moved there in 2017 and contributed to a share of the area’s population. The arrivals of young adults in 2017 to Arlington totaled 8.2% of the population. (USA Today)

The Virginia Native American Festival, sponsored by the Fairfax County Park Authority, is officially planned for Sept. 7, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Riverbend Park in Great Falls. The event will feature storytelling, demonstrations and hands-on activities that will showcase the eight Native American tribes from Virginia. (Inside NoVA)
