Virginia cancels striped bass fishing season; Arlington votes to rename Jefferson Davis Highway

Fishing season for large rockfish in tributaries of the Potomac River, along the Atlantic coastline and parts of the Chesapeake Bay is canceled in Virginia this year, due to concern for the fish’s dwindling population. (The Washington Post)

Arlington County Board voted on Thursday to change the name of Jefferson Davis Highway to either Richmond Highway or Richmond Boulevard. In 1992, the General Assembly voted to name the road Jefferson Davis Highway after the president of the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis. (WTOP)

Prince William County Public Schools announced the first draft for boundary changes to high schools on the county’s western side to fill the news 13th high school, expected to open in the fall of 2021. (Inside NoVA)
