Arlington seeks to improve nightlife safety; Prince William County supervisors reject tax hike on data centers

A new initiative in Arlington seeks to improve nightlife safety by providing effective standards for establishments that serve alcohol. It’s called the Arlington Restaurant Initiative, and is a voluntary accreditation program that streamlines processes within county government to develop working relationships vital to public safety between businesses and the local government. The latest proposal in Prince William County to increase taxes on data centers for the fiscal year 2020 has been rejected. The Board of Supervisors voted at a meeting Wednesday on the proposal. (Inside NoVA)

Virginia Department of Transportation will begin two road construction projects Thursday, closing the ramp from Chain Bridge Road to I-66 westbound for two years, and next weekend repairs will begin on a sinkhole underneath Route 50 eastbound near Fair Oaks Mall. (Fox 5 DC)

The Loudoun Freedom Center has proposed the preservation of Asbury Church, a 190-year-old structure in Middleburg. Abandoned for more than two decades, it could soon be revitalized if the proposal is approved by the Middleburg Town Council. (Loudoun Now)
