The third annual H.E.A.L.th Fair & 5K returns to the Town of Middleburg on March 30, celebrating the town’s commitment to healthy eating and active living through its adoption of the National Healthy Eating and Active Living resolution.
The event, being held at the Middleburg Community Center from 8 a.m.-1 p.m., is designed to be family-friendly, and includes a 5K race for runners and walkers. Guests will also have the chance to learn more about health and fitness from local professionals and sample healthy food from over 25 vendor booths.
Vendors will include A Place To Be, Sequoia Health and Fitness, MTO Kombucha, YogaWorkZ, the JK Community Farm, Mold Me Fitness and more. All vendors will be on hand from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
The day will begin with a timed 5K race at 8 a.m., and a dog jog at 9 a.m. The race course flows through Middleburg, including the grounds of Salamander Resort & Spa. The races start and finish at the Middleburg Community Center.
Every race participant will receive a T-shirt, and awards will be given to the top runners in each age group. The proceeds from the race will benefit A Place To Be and will help support summer camps for Middleburg/Aldie Boy Scout Troop 2950.
A series of presentations will be held as well, starting with “The Power of Music Therapy” by A Place To Be at 10:30 a.m., and a screening of the documentary Styrofoam Mom at 11:30 a.m., which explores the impact of Styrofoam on the environment.
The film was written and produced by local health and environmental advocate Miriam Gennari. She will be at the event to discuss the film and answer questions after the screening.
