It’s a happy Halloween for a local Manassas teenager who uses a wheelchair, as the charity Magic Wheelchair helped create a costume of a Jurassic Park jeep for him. The costume is made from foam and is set on a frame that fits the wheelchair.

One of the winning $1 million tickets from last week’s Mega Millions jackpot that totaled $1.54 billion belonged to a group of 11 friends originally from Arlington who have known each other for 40 years. The ticket was bought in Dale City.

Road repair and cleanup costs from Hurricane Florence and Tropical Storm Michael, plus estimated costs for snow storms, could cause Virginia to cut back on paving and other road maintenance this spring. An estimate of $46 million was spent in response to the storms thus far.

In a 5-2 vote, the Vienna Town Council approved Vienna Development Associates LLC’s proposal for a four-story mixed-use building on Maple Ave. The project, which did face some objections from the public, will feature 19,000 square feet of retail or commercial space and 151 residential units.

A W.T. Woodson High School student was arrested for stealing two ball python snakes from a Fairfax City pet store after posting videos of the snakes on Snapchat. Police say the student will get juvenile diversion.
