Naked man causes Route 28 to close Tuesday afternoon; Democrat Doug Jones defeats Republican Roy Moore in Alabama Senate race

Route 28 closed between Old Ox Road and Frying Pan Road around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday after a naked man believed to be involved in a car accident jumped on top of a passing vehicle, damaged it and then ran into a wooded area. The suspect was later arrested on Dulles International Airport property.

For the first time since 1992, Alabama has elected a Democratic senator. Doug Jones defeated Republican Roy Moore, a former state judge who is accused of having made sexual advances on teenagers during his 30s. Moore did not concede defeat, believing that the race was close enough to warrant a recount, but the Alabama Republican Party has said that it would not support Moore’s request.
