Early in the morning on June 14, a gunman started firing rifle rounds at those practicing for the Congressional Baseball Game in Alexandria, wounding four. Two Capitol Police officers and three Alexandria Police officers stepped in and shot the gunman, who later died from his injuries. Each officer received a Medal of Honor on Thursday.

Changes to the Washington Monument’s grounds include a shift in ownership from the D.C.
