Data from Old Dominion University reveals that 85 percent of people in Virginia wear their seat belts, an increase from previous years’ 79 percent. So far, 236 people (who were not wearing their seat belts) have died in crashes this year, prompting state officials to continue their compliance efforts.

Two people were killed and one seriously injured during a Sunday shooting between the 100 and 200 block of North Picket Street (James Marx All Veterans Park) at 9 p.m. in Alexandria. Alexandria Police are expected to release more information about a suspect sometime Monday.
