A little more than a week after opening a location within Jammin’ Java in Vienna, South Block Smoothie opens its fifth shop in Del Ray today. Inside the studio of Ease Yoga, the mini health food chain will offer smoothies and juice and grab-and-go salads and sandwiches (caprese, turkey and brie, prosciutto with gouda and fig jam) from D.C.-based Glen’s Garden Market and Broodjes Co. A coffee program from Stumptown, plus kombucha, is forthcoming, and in the spring look for cornhole on the yard out front.
At the grand opening, set for Jan. 9, there will be free half-pints of juice until supplies runs out, and the first 25 guests will receive $25 gift cards. / 3051 Mt. Vernon Ave., Alexandria
