The Washington Capitals are celebrating their 40th anniversary this season, and what a run it’s been. Thus far the team has celebrated their birthday with a commemorative logo on their uniforms, bringing back team legends for a ceremonial puck drop at their home opener against the Montreal Canadiens on October 9, and announcing some of the names of the 40 Greatest Caps, as voted on by the fans. But let’s take a stroll down memory lane and revisit some of the big moments of the Caps first 40 years in the league.
