Manassas Battlefields
You have 5,000 acres of unblemished fields to make history come alive in this striking landmark. Visitors can hike trails up to 6 miles long, watch a film, follow park rangers as they expertly rattle off tidbits and facts about the area or take a self-guided driving tour to fully appreciate the bloody Civil War battlegrounds. At the end of August, there’ll be a reenactment of the Battle of Second Manassas to commemorate its 153rd anniversary. –RLS / nps.gov/mana
