Try These Outdoor Fitness Activities in NoVA

From yoga to boxing, find your perfect summer workout with these classes.

This summer, relish all the benefits that come with exercising under the sun. Aside from getting fit, outdoor workouts can increase vitamin D levels, reduce stress, and lower the risk of heart disease. Whether you’re a pro or just starting out, these outdoor fitness classes and activities in Northern Virginia will keep you active. 

Fitness on the Plaza at Fairfax Corner  

Saturdays, 9 a.m., June 1 through August 31 (Yoga) 

On alternating Saturdays, experience the thrill of a bootcamp by F45 filled with sweat-inducing circuit and HIIT workouts or invigorate your morning with CorePower Yoga. Ensure you bring your mat, water, and towel for a complete fitness experience. The workouts are 45 minutes long. Fairfax Corner: 4100 Monument Corner Dr., Fairfax, free 

Fitness on the Plaza at One Loudoun 

Thursdays through October 24, 7–8 p.m. 

The Fitness Equation brings its Zumba dance classes to the One Loudoun Plaza. These sessions combine upbeat music with dynamic movements for a full-body workout. Be prepared to move, sweat, and enjoy every minute of it. One Loudoun: 20365 Exchange St., Ashburn, free 

Healthy Together Fairfax 

May 19, noon–3 p.m. 

Bring the family to this event that offers free health screenings, fitness classes, and hands-on workshops for all ages. Try Zumba, body combat, and tai chi. Kids can take trail walks and listen to different stories. Franconia Park: 6601 Telegraph Rd., Alexandria, free 

Yoga and Trampoline Fitness 

Mondays and Wednesdays, May 27 through August 28, 6–7 p.m. (Yoga); Tuesdays, May 28 through August 27, 6–7 p.m. (Trampoline Fitness) 

Enjoy a serene yoga session with Beloved Yoga’s expert teachers, offering a judgment-free environment for all levels. Remember to bring your mat and water to stay hydrated. If you want a bouncier workout, don’t miss the trampoline fitness class, perfect for a lively and low-impact session. Reston Station: 1900 Reston Metro Plz., Reston, free 

Body by Ginny 

Various class schedules 

Join a total body workout that blends free weights, cardio drills, stretching, and abdominal exercises. Classes are held in parks and schools, led by BbG Fitness trainers who tailor workouts for all fitness levels. Try a free trial class to see if this program is right for you. Various Arlington and McLean locations, $20 

HIIT Hard Boxing

Sundays, 1 p.m. 

Enhance your boxing skills at Jones Point Park, where a two-hour class open to all levels awaits. Learn key defense moves, refine your footwork, and practice fluid punch combinations. Note: A schedule has not yet been posted online. 100 Jones Point Dr., Alexandria, $35 

Meadowood Mountain’s Bike Trail Work Day 

June 1, 9 a.m.–noon 

Celebrate National Trails Day with a ride through the Meadowood Special Recreation Area. Bring your mountain bike and enjoy a day that promotes the preservation of community trails. Registration recommended. 10110 Gunston, Rd., Lorton, free
