6 fitness activities to help reach your new year’s resolutions

From a yoga party to a virtual HIIT workout, kick your resolution into high gear with one of these weekend workouts.

With the new year comes new resolutions. If one of your resolutions was to focus on your fitness or health, here are six activities to help achieve your goals this weekend.

Yoga HIIT CORE | virtualLIVE studio

Thursday, 8:45-9:45 a.m.
Combine high intensity training and yoga for the ultimate workout. Participants will do sets of bodyweight and cardio moves and refresh with yoga poses to prepare for the next round. Variations will be provided to accommodate all levels of fitness. // $16

Hike with a Naturalist

Thursday, 10 a.m.-noon
Escape the hustle and bustle and take in the beautiful natural surroundings at Leopold’s Preserve. Join a local naturalist for a hike around the Bull Run Mountains to discover the different flora and fauna in the region. // Leopold’s Preserve: 16290 Thoroughfare Road, Broad Run; free

New Years Virtual Sweat & Sip

Friday, 6 p.m.
Enjoy an Orangetheory fitness class from your living room. Sweat it out with a HIIT bodyweight workout then refresh with a BYOB cocktail with the class on Zoom. // free

2021 New Year, New You Kick-start

Saturday, 10:30 a.m.
Kick off your fitness resolution with Rugged Terrain CrossFit. This six-week course includes boot camp classes, meal plan and nutrition guidance. Multiple plans are available to help you reach your goals for the new year. // $219 for six-week class

New Year’s Yoga Party

Sunday, 10-11:15 a.m.
Shake off the bad vibes of 2020 with a relaxing yoga session. This 75-minute class will be limited to 21 in-person participants. Participants can also join the class virtually. After the class, enjoy a flight of kombucha to celebrate the new year. // Old Bust Head Brewing Company: 7134 Farm Station Road, Warrenton; $10-$12

Yoga for Anxiety and Depression

Sunday, 1-3:30 p.m.
Help manage your mental health with yoga. This three-week series will teach participants different yoga and meditation techniques and will be tackling anxiety, depression and compassion for yourself. // West Trail Wellness and Massage: 190 N. 21st St., Purcellville; $25 per class
