8 Ways to Celebrate Father’s Day in Northern Virginia

Father’s Day is on June 21, and there are many ways to celebrate dads in Northern Virginia. Whether your dad loves to cook, run, eat, or fish, treat your special father figure in your life to one of these activities.

Father’s Day ‘90s Cookout and Beer Deal

June 20 and 21

Grab your best jorts and gleaming white New Balances! Dirt Farm Brewing is spending Father’s Day weekend with a ‘90s-themed cookout featuring hot dogs and hamburgers, classic lawn games, and plenty of cold beer. Father’s Day Celebration at Lost Barrel Brewing

June 21

Lost Barrel Brewing is celebrating dads with their full menu available all day long, with brunch served between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Live music by Juliet Lloyd will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the band 2 Of The Four takes over from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. There is no extra charge for the event, and seating will be first-come, first-served in the taproom, porch, or yard. Semper Fi Father’s Day 5K, 10K, and Kid’s 1-Miler 2026

For dads who love to run, the Semper Fi races offer lengths for all experience levels. The scenic race runs along a paved bike path through Mason Neck State Park in Lorton. There’s also a virtual race option. 301 High Point Rd., Lorton, $12.28 to $65.65 per person depending on race

June 21, 10 a.m. to noon

Dads and their families are welcome to come out to Caboose Commons in Fairfax for a patio party. The grills will be fired up, along with a bounce house on site, live music, beer, and boozy and non-boozy snowcones. 2918 Eskridge Rd., Fairfax, free

Father’s Day Fish-a-Rama

June 21, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Great Country Farms is hosting a Father’s Day Fish-a-Rama contest with prizes given for the biggest fish caught between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. There will also be prizes for the most fish caught during power hour from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The day is bring-your-own-pole and gear, and no drag hooks are permitted. Guests can buy worms with their advance ticket purchase. Annual Father’s Day Celebration at Fairfax Station Railroad Museum

June 21, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

This family-friendly Father’s Day model trains celebration lasts all weekend. It’s complete with live demonstrations on model train operation from setup to more advanced techniques. Father’s Day All-You-Can-Eat Luau Buffet

Have dad bring his best Hawaiian shirt for this all-you-can-eat buffet at Flying Ace Farm. In addition to Hawaiian-themed food like spam fried rice and garlic shrimp skewers, there will be cocktails and craft beer for purchase. Father’s Day Cake Decorating Class

June 21, 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Fran’s Cake and Candy Supplies is hosting a cake decorating class for dads and kids. With step-by-step instructions, guests can create a buttercream cake with a tie theme. Each cake can be personalized with their own unique tie colors and patterns. Along with the cake to take home, attendees can get a 5% discount on purchases of supplies and tools at Fran’s Cake and Candy on the day of the class. 10927 Main St., Fairfax, $135.23 for one adult and one child, more than 1 child is $100 extra charge, and your second child will go home with a cake of their own
