Movie lovers take note. The 12th annual Northern Virginia International Film & Music Festival will take place April 9 and 10 in Tysons. Screenings are free to the public, but registration is required.
LOOK Dine-in Cinemas at the Boro in Tysons will host the event. It will feature documentaries, dramas, comedies, and sci-fi films from around the world. The screenings run from approximately 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., with planned intermissions.
Tickets are also on sale for the festival’s awards and red-carpet show. The event, co-hosted by Miss District of Columbia Allison Laforce, is planned for Saturday, April 11, at 5:30 p.m.

Award-winners include Andrew Akbari, a DC screenwriter and filmmaker from George Mason University. Akbari won for the category of Best Short Screenplay Thriller for Blank Canvas. Fairfax County resident and retired federal government employee Michael J. Volpe will also be honored with multiple screenwriting awards for the romantic drama Troubadour’s Last Note.
