A New Pop-Up Ice Rink Is Opening in Tysons

Located at Capital One Center, this pop-up is one of the largest outdoor, open-air rinks in the DMV.

Dust off your ice skates because there’s a new rink coming to town. This winter, Capital One Center in Tysons will be home to a pop-up ice skating rink.

The pop-up opens Thursday, December 4 and runs through Saturday, February 28, 2026. Located on the pickleball courts at Metro Plaza, the Capital One Center Skating Rink is one of the largest synthetic ice rinks in the nation, at 9,000 square feet. The pop-up also features a 40-foot LED tree and an elevated deck for viewing.

“Capital One Center is thrilled to open Metro Park — a year-round recreational plaza featuring a synthetic ice skating rink in the winter and pickleball courts spring through fall — and offer more community amenities at our growing arts and entertainment center,” said Erin Mical, vice president of Capital One, in a recent press release.

Tickets are $16 for adults; $14 for kids 12 and under, seniors, and Capital One employees; and $13 per person for groups of 10 or more. Once you purchase your ticket, you have access to the rink throughout the day, as long as you keep your wristband on.

The pop-up is open Monday through Thursday from noon to 9 p.m., Friday from noon to 10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The rink will run on special holiday hours on Christmas Eve, Christmas, December 26 to 30, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day. Check Metro Park’s webpage for updates on any potential closures. 1820 Capital One Dr. S., Tysons
