The Immersive Experience at DC’s New Pop-Up Bar Will Transport You to the Swiss Alps

Grab a table and prepared to be wowed by the projections covering the walls of this larger-than-life igloo.

If you can’t get to Las Vegas to catch a mesmerizing show at the Sphere, you can always go to The Dome in DC. The rooftop at Union Market is set to host its first activation, Snowglow at The Dome — an immersive 360-degree experience — throughout the winter.

Inside the heated 50-foot spherical dome is an immersive European winter-inspired pop-up with visuals and a menu that will dazzle your senses. With 60 seats and more than a dozen secluded dining chalets, you’ll have an amazing view of the 90-minute experience no matter where you’re seated.

The show will transport you to the mountains of Europe as the walls of the dome are lit up with images of winter landscapes, northern lights, star-lit skies, and embers of fire.

Under the projections, you’ll find a dining area reminiscent of Swiss Alpine villages. You’ll find yourself dining in the winter forest with snow-covered trees, lush greenery, and warm wood tones and  tartan textiles creating the perfect chic après-ski vibe.

And what’s a show without dinner and a drink? The European theme continues into the beverage and food menu. Specialty cocktails include Date with a Saint Bernard, which is made with fig Mahia, Crème de Noyaux, Fernet-Branca, evaporated milk, and chocolate truffle, and Cliffhangers, which is a spiced hot chocolate with Mezcal, Goldschläger, and creme de moka. Guests can also enjoy tableside martini service.

On the food menu, chef Nathan Beauchamp has plenty of small plate options to fill your appetite, including lobster bisque, beef tartare, and crispy prawn.

Tickets are $35 per person and include entry, a reserved seating area, the 90-minute experience, and a welcome drink. This experience is limited to guests 21 and older. Snowglow at The Dome is open at select times from Wednesday through Sunday until March 1. Guests are asked to arrive 30 minutes before their reservation.
