The DowntownDC BID — the same organization behind the DowntownDC Holiday Market — has unveiled a new indoor synthetic ice skating rink in the Great Hall of the National Building Museum, and it’s completely free to visitors.
The rink, known as the Holiday Skate Spectacular, will be open Wednesdays through Mondays until January 4.
Skating sessions are free if you bring your own skates, but skate rentals are available for a $5 fee. Every participant must sign a waiver before skating, and skaters under 18 must have a parent or guardian present.
For little ones just learning to skate, there will be special kids’ skating lessons.
Hours of operation are noon to 8 p.m. Every day, there is a toddler skate session from noon to 1:45 p.m. when only young children and their families are permitted on the ice, followed by family skate sessions from 2 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. After family skate, there will be a themed skate on select dates from 6 to 7:45 p.m.
