Whether you love them or hate them, Peeps season has officially started. And with it comes the annual Occoquan Peep Show.
This show encourages the entire community, residents and businesses, to create their very own Peeps dioramas. Previous marshmallow displays have included a recreation of the moon landing, a magic show, the Titanic, and a scene from Back to the Future.
There are two ways to participate in the contest. For the business competition, local storefronts throughout Occoquan will create their own Peep displays to showcase in their stores. Voters have the chance to choose their favorites and enter to win $100 in Occoquan gift cards.
For the community competition, the contest will be split into four categories: Individuals, Family/Teams, Youth (ages 12–16), and Kids (ages 12 and under). These dioramas will be displayed at Town Hall from March 26–30. The winner of each of these categories will win a $50 prize.
The Peep Show is free to participate, but all contestants must register beforehand. Each diorama needs to follow a family-friendly theme, can be no larger than 12 inches by 14 inches, and all characters included in the display must be created using Peeps. Community entries must be dropped off at Town Hall by March 25.
Voting for both contests will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 26–30 at Occoquan Town Hall.
