The Fairfax County Library will debut a new book festival this month, with a high-profile name kicking things off. David Baldacci, the bestselling author of more than 50 books, will speak at the Chantilly Regional Library on Saturday, September 30.
Baldacci is known for his suspenseful novels and thrillers. The writer is a longtime resident of Virginia and attended Virginia Commonwealth University for his undergraduate studies and the University of Virginia for law school. His most recent novels are The 6:20 Man, Long Shadows, and Simply Lies.
This event is just one part of the Local Author Book Festival, where writers from the Northern Virginia area will gather to chat with the public and sell copies of their books. This is the first year the library will host this festival from noon to 3 p.m.
Attendees can also look forward to a bookmaking activity for kids, a caricature artist, and a photo booth.
Baldacci’s speaking engagement at 11 a.m. is free but does require registration. Those interested can register online to watch a livestream. The author will answer questions about his books. Virtual attendees will receive a Zoom link one day before the event in order to access the livestream. Tickets for the in-person event are just about sold out.
In addition to Baldacci’s discussion, the Fairfax Library Foundation will host a VIP meet and greet at 9:30 a.m. at the Chantilly Regional Library. This is a more intimate, face-to-face discussion with the author. Tickets for the VIP event are $75 online. VIP ticketholders will get light refreshments and have special reserved seating at the main speaking event.
