Step Inside Your Favorite Christmas Movies with This Crazy Holiday Exhibit in National Harbor

Head to the North Pole with Buddy the Elf and drink hot chocolate on the Polar Express when you visit the Gaylord National Resort.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas down at the Gaylord National Resort. As we head closer to the holiday season, the resort continues to prepare for its annual Christmas on the Potomac celebration with an ode to your favorite seasonal flicks.

Opening back in 2008, the annual holiday event will kick-off the 2021 holiday season with the new I Love Christmas Movies experience. Welcoming guests from November 26 to December 31, movie lovers will be able to enter 13 immersive scenes from some of the best holiday films ever created.

Whether you’re a fan of The Polar Express, Elf, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, or The Year Without A Santa Claus, the guided experience will take you to meet Snow Miser and Buddy the Elf’s friend Leon the Snowman while interacting with different replica film props, audio, life-size sets, and more. (You can even plug in the lights for the Griswold’s over-the-top Christmas decorations.)

“Christmas on the Potomac is back at Gaylord National, and we’re preparing an incredible experience open to both resort guests and visitors to National Harbor,” says Dan McKeon, area general manager. “Some of our favorite activities, like gingerbread decorating and ice tubing, will return with some amazing new experiences, including I Love Christmas Movies and ice bumper cars. Our ’80s-themed rooftop lounge, Replay, will offer the most amazing views and over-the-top holiday drinks.”

Tickets to this spectacular winter wonderland start at $33 for adults and $25 for children 4 to 11 years old. Overnight hotel packages will also be available to purchase, with the I Love Christmas Movies package starting at $339 and the Christmas on the Potomac package starting at $419.

Along with the interactive movie experience, the resort will host a variety of other seasonal attractions. Whether you’re looking to ice skate and snow tube the night away, catch the new holiday laser light show, or start a friendly snowball fight, you’ll be able to make the most of your holiday fun.
