Massanutten Resort Announces Spring Activities

Enjoy the warmer weather while partaking in mountain biking, taking a scenic chair lift, or tackling a ropes course.

The snow may have long melted, but there are still piles of fun to be had at one Virginia mountain getaway. Massanutten Resort, an all-season destination located on 6,000 acres in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, just announced the activity line-up for visitors this spring, and there is indeed something for everyone. Adrenaline junkies can try zip-lining and mountain biking, visitors looking to tap into their creative side can take a ukulele class, and those who crave pampering after (or instead of) exerting all that energy can book a spa treatment.

The resort’s Family Adventure Park features lots of exhilarating experiences, including an 800-feet Mega Zipline that reaches speeds up to 30 miles per hour. The Canopy Tour is a two-hour journey through the forest during which guests take on four bridges, hanging vines, and six zip lines that are 90-feet to 470-feet long. The Ridge Rappel and Climbing Excursion takes you to new heights, the Climbing Wall has climbs that are 16 to 30 feet in length, the Quick Flight gives you a thirty-feet free fall sensation, and the two lanes of Summer Tubing are 600 feet in length with a drop of 120 vertical feet. For the younger set, the Kids’ Adventure Course appeals to those 12 and under with a Burma bridge, log crossing, swinging vine bridge, net traverse, and 100-foot zip line.

Massanutten’s Mountain Bike Park opens the first weekend in May, with advanced jump and single track trails for newbies and veterans; cross-country and e-bike rentals offer a more relaxed ride. Their popular Scenic Chairlift Ride will open late spring, featuring a panoramic view of mountains and villages en route to the Massanutten Peak. The resort’s variety of trails is perfect for self-guide hikes; you can also take a guided walk and learn about sketching and journaling in the great outdoors, or a family-friendly adventure led by the Nature Center team. Golf fanatics can head to the Driving Range, Woodstone Meadows Golf Course, or Mountain Greens Golf Course for practice swings or 18-hole play.

New activities for the spring include the Peachy Keen Scrub & Massage at the spa, an Escape Room theme set in a sinking submarine, and ukulele and drawing classes. For epicureans, the Virginia Wine Discovery Program is a weeklong program with a local wine tasting, cooking demonstration, and pairing dinner.

Massanutten Resort recommends advance ticket purchases for all spring activities, either online or through the Resort App. For more information about advance ticket purchasing and what to expect this spring, guests can visit MassResort.com/Spring.
