With fall finally at NoVA’s doorstep, there are a variety of indoor and outdoor events to enjoy before the holiday season hits. From holiday lights in the park to discussions on your grandchild’s favorite social media platform, here are seven virtual and in-person events for seniors to enjoy this month.
Winter Walk of Lights

If you take a daily walk around the neighborhood, consider moving it to Meadowlark Botanical Gardens this month. Spend the night walking through the magical garden as it is lit with beautiful lights. What is TikTok?

Before you spend thanksgiving with your grandchildren, brush up on your knowledge of TikTok. Learn everything there is to know about the video sharing app, including why it is popular and how to create your own videos. // free
Afternoon Tea
Nov. 19 & 20, 11 a.m. & 1 p.m.
Travel to England without leaving the comfort of NoVA. This traditional two-hour tea has all of the scrumptious teas and appetizers you could imagine. New Frontiers in Early American History

Grab the computer and join local historians for a discussion about new ground breaking research into early American history. Dr. Andrew O’Shaughnessy, Dr. Alexi Garrett and Dr. Michael Blaakman will discuss their recent work. The topics include how elite, unmarried white women commercially related to the people they enslaved, the motives of the founding-era elites and the emergence of U.S. society in the 19th century. // free
Tysons Corner Center Holiday Drive-In

Scotch Whisky Tasting

Whether you have a new iPhone or have been using one for years, join this class to get all of the tips and tricks. This class will include an overview of everything the cell phone offers to its users pulse a Q&A for everything that wasn’t covered. // free
