Signature Theatre releases new digital experience for stuck-at-home art enthusiasts

“The Signature Show” consists of biweekly, half-hour episodes featuring performances by acclaimed actors, singers and directors alike.

As of July 30, local art enthusiasts of the region gained a new platform for staying entertained at home through the pandemic, courtesy of The Signature Show. The recent series release from Signature Theatre features performances, interviews and other celebrations of musical voices connected to the Tony Award-winning regional theater.

“We are excited to launch this new biweekly show in an effort to stay connected to our audiences while we can’t be together in person and also to celebrate the artistry that we look forward to seeing on our stages once again in the future,” said Signature’s Managing Director Maggie Boland in a recent press release. “Though nothing can come close to replacing live performance, we’re proud to work together with staff and artists to create content that we can all enjoy together, if only virtually—this is just one of several exciting programs we’re looking forward to introducing over the coming weeks and months.”

The first episode, which was published to YouTube on July 30, was directed and produced by Associate Artistic Director Matthew Gardiner and features nearly a dozen of Signature’s talented performers. With every new episode, viewers will have the chance to check in with some of the theater’s artists, many of whom have performed on Broadway and received several accolades, in an intimate, virtual experience.
